During a flood, people are advised to move their valuables and goods to where they won't get damaged, secure dangerous items, evacuate as soon as possible, and try not to travel in the water so much as it may have several hazards. Everyone affected should be careful as to not put themselves in danger, and should listen to and follow instructions from emergency management. If needed, relief would be provided. In cases of severe flooding and the damage caused is huge, volunteers from other areas or the SES usually come to help fix up the affected area. After floods die down, many have to go through the trouble of cleaning up their homes, which is really hazardous as electrical poles may be broken, and debris lying around can harm someone if they aren't careful. Roads, bridges, buildings and highways may have to be repaired and the remaining debris would have to be removed. It would take time and quite a lot of money to rebuild the area, but at least they'd have support. |
